Addison's growing up!

Over the past several months, I've noticed how big Addison is getting and how much she is growing up. When Peyton was born, it really became more evident how big she is both physically and mentally, I guess because beside the little newborn, she really is pretty grown up. It makes me a little sad, but also very proud of the little girl she is becoming. She makes me laugh every day with all the funny things she says. I can't remember them all to write them in this blog, but I do remember one thing she said to my mom recently that was pretty funny and shows how she processes things in her head.

My mom said to her: "I could eat you up!" and Addison responded matter-of-factly with: "Nanda, we don't eat people." My mom said, "But I could just eat your eyes and your ears and your nose and your mouth because they are so cute!" and Addison said, "But Nanda, then I couldn't eat or hear or smell or talk!" She also frequently talks on her "cell phone" and talks about "did you get my text message? or my email?" which I think is hilarious! I wish I could think of some more, but I can't remember any right now.

She has her own little unique personality that is so endearing at times (at frustrating at others). She remembers EVERYTHING so you can't tell her snaything just to get her to move on, because it will come back to haunt you later. Same deal when you show her how to do something - she remembers EXACTLY how you show her the first time and she will do it EXACTLY that way each time she does it. And you can't get away with doing it any differently either.

One thing that she is doing lately that isn't so endearing in the moment is that she walks carefully so that she won't step on any lines in the floor or pavement, etc. So that means she's even slower than usual. We were in JCPenney the other day and she had to go potty. She had to step in the middle of EVERY SINGLE square in the floor on the way to the bathroom and I thought we would NEVER get there!!

Anyway, I'm proud of my sweet girl who is such a great big sister and I love her so much! Here are some pics of my big girl recently that I hope you will enjoy.

Happy 30th Birthday to me!

So, I'm over a month late posting this one, but I had to go back and recapture the moments of celebrating my 30th birthday, which was September 28th.

First of all, my best friend, Sheila turned 40 this year on her birthday, September 18th. We had told our husbands last year that they had to throw us a big party together to celebrate our milestones. Wel,l with me being pregnant and our focus on Peyton's near arrival, I thought maybe a party wasn't quite so important, so we made no plans. Then, Jason announced to me a few weeks before Sheila's birthday that Blaine (her husband) was planning a surprise party for her and needed me to help. I reminded him that he and Blaine were supposed to be planning one for us both and I told him he was in trouble. He played right in to that role that he had no clue what I was talking about (because he usually doesn't!). Anyway, I started getting a little suspicious for various reasons that maybe this was a joint surprise party, but he and Blaine tried to throw me off and some other things gave me reason to give up that idea on the day of the party. Then we arrived at Sheila and Blaine's house and there were some of my family members at "Sheila's" party. I was actually genuinely surprised and so was Sheila. I didn't have my camera so I didn't get any pictures, but I borrowed some from Sheila. It was a fun night!

Then on my actual birthday, there were no plans to do anything and I was at work. Then I got a phone call from my mom and she said for me to come out on the front porch for a birthday surprise. I went out front and her car pulled up with her, my brother, Addison and William! Boy, was I surprised! So, I went home for the day with them and we had fun playing and mama made my favorite meal for supper. What a great day and a great surprise!

Addison's Open House at Carolina Kids

Since Peyton didn't arrive on his due date (October 4th), we were able to attend Addison's Open House in her 3K class at Carolina Kids. It was a lot of fun. She showed us the artwork she's worked on lately and they did a little craft. We got a folder with the work she's been doing and they did circle time as a class to show us what they do every day.

They practiced doing their sign language alphabet, saying their vowels in English and their colors in Spanish. They did their pledges and songs - Pledge to American flag & My Country Tis of Thee, Pledge to Christian flag & I'm in the Lord's Army, and Pledge to the Bible & B-I-B-L-E. They helped read a story and did their dance to the Boogie Walk. It was really cute. The Chick-fil-A cow came too so Addison got her picture made.

We had a great time and it was good to see what she does at school and to hear what the teachers had to say about her. They call her their "little perfectionist"! The first thing she did when we came in was to go and take the window clings off the door and straighten them. They were falling leaves and they weren't "straight." Ms. Stacy says she also goes around straightening up the rugs and puts all the nametags back after center time. Here's some pics and video for you to enjoy.

Thanks to Ms. Joan, Ms. Stacy, Ms. Danielle and Carolina Kids for the great work they do with Addison and the other kids. She really enjoys going there and being with her friends and teachers.

Addison is a BIG SISTER!!

The day we've waited for so long finally arrived! Addison has been asking "is it fall yet?", "is it October yet?", "when is baby Peyton coming?", "he's taking too long!", etc. The big day finally arrived on Friday, after he didn't arrive on his due date and I went in to be induced. It went a lot faster than anticipated and we welcomed this sweet baby to the world at 6:31am on Friday, October 7th. Peyton Marshall Werts weighed 8 pounds and was 19 inches long. Addison adores him and enjoys kissing and holding him. She is so proud!
