As I was organizing Addison's closet the other day, we ran across her halloween costumes, so she wanted to put them on. The first one is one that she has actually never worn, with the price tag still on it - a black kitty cat costume. GrandNanda bought it for her after her first halloween, when all the costumes were on clearance, in hopes that she would wear it the next halloween (this past one). However, when I tried to coax her into it before halloween, she decided she was scared of it and wouldn't put it on, so she was Tinkerbell instead. That night, she wasn't scared of it at all and loved the tail the best. When she put it on, she said, "Look, I have whiskers like Uncle Bwad (Brad)". haha
Then she moved on to the Minnie Mouse costume from last year, and she was very excited about that. It was very short and tight, but of course, she didn't mind. She pitched a fit when she had to take it off and asked to wear it every day that week. I finally agreed to let her wear it to school on Friday (with long sleeves and pants underneath), which is show-and-tell day. She was very excited about that. She calls herself Minnie Mouse and wants you to do the same while she is wearing it. She has asked for the Tinkerbell one a couple of times, but we haven't gotten it back out yet. Some really funny and cute things she has said/done lately:
She refers to herself in third-person a lot and likes to play the part of other characters. So, on any given day, she might be Princess Addison, Taylor Swift, Reba, Minnie Mouse, or the latest is her friend Makayla from church. She's so cute and plays the part out to the point of making everyone call her by that name while she is being that person. She'll say, "Mommy, Taylor Swift is going to the potty," etc. What an imagination.
Nanda and Pippy were visiting the other day and Nanda told Addison that one day, Addison might have to change their diapers like they changed hers. Addison looked at her strangely and then told Pippy that he had to get his diaper changed and to lay down on the floor. So, of course, Pippy complied and laid on the floor for her to change his diaper. She was quite proud of herself.
She is really interested in getting married all of a sudden and who people are married to. So, she knows who everyone is married to among our family and friends. She often says that she is going to get married one day and we tell her it will be a LOOOOOOOOONG time away. So, today, we were riding in the car and she says to me, "Mommy, I'm going to get married when I turn THREE YEARS OLD!" (very matter of factly) and so of course me and Daddy said no, she wasn't for a LOOOOONG time. She took it into consideration and didn't say anything else about it.
This week, when we have been saying our prayer on the way to school, she has said some really cute things. One day, when I asked, "What do you want to thank God for today, Addison?," (her usual response is pizza) she responded with something I couldn't understand - "poppin sangs". I couldn't figure it out until she started saying "And the fireworks, and the balloons at Shar-Shar's party". Then I realized she was saying "popping things" and was talking about the party poppers we had at her Great-Aunt Sharon's 50th brithday party last weekend. What a fun time that was with fireworks, balloons, and "poppin sangs" just like Addison said. The funny thing is that she was scared to death of the fireworks and "poppin sangs" at the party. I guess she still enjoyed it because she was thankful for it a few days later.
Another morning when I asked her what she wanted to thank God for today, she said "Daddy's job and Mommy's job and my job and She-She's job and Blaine's job and Jordyn's job and Nanda's job and Pippy's job and everybody's job." I agreed that jobs were something to be thankful for and something we usually do mention, but I always laugh about "her" job. I'm not sure she really knows what a job is, but it's cute and it cracks me up!
The sweetest one was Thursday, when I asked what she wanted to thank God for and she responded immediately with "Jesus!" Then she said, and my school and my church. I melted. I'm thankful for all of those things too.
